Alex Fiorio, a positive come back to the races with the Abarth 124 rally: 6th in the Salento Rally

Alex and Cesare’s weekend could not have been more satisfying, as they won two disciplines of the motoring world at the same time. Alex Fiorio, with Luca Broglia, achieved a great sixth place and a first place among the two wheels drive in the Salento Rally driving an Abarth 124 rally. The father Cesare won the regularity challenge of the Targa di Capitanata, a vintage car event, beside Mauro Passanante in a 1958′ Lancia Appia.

Alex’s result in the Salento Rally were achieved despite a tough competition, with many all-wheel drive cars from the last generation WRC and R5 categories. The route is quite peculiar as almost all of it is on level ground and with many long rectilinear and 90° crossroads, showing off the acceleration, power and braking of the Scorpio’s spider. A bit of rain at the beginning of the second stage helped the driver of the Abarth 124 rally to produce great performances, maintaining a fast peace.

“Is it without a doubt a very positive result – said Alex Fiorio at the finish line – and what impressed me was the performance under the rain, where the rear wheel drive was supposed to be penalizing. Instead, as I could regulate the traction and the power distribution, we got a very relevant time, preceding some of the protagonists of the WRC championship”.

Cesare Fiorio had a calmer race beside the race specialist Mauro Passanante, in a very suggestive path in Puglia, on the Gargano roads, thanks to the precision with the stopwatch he achieved success.
